Multiple entry points for deathmatch

Everyone knows race has multiple flags you need to hit in order to win?  Imagine if deathmatch had multiple starting points you could enter.  You could design a duel map that started one player out on one side and another some place else.  This would make a true duel.

Here is how it could work...

You mark the entry points very similarly if not identically to how you do it for race.  Then when the game is launched the players are placed on the map round robin.  For example if three players were on  a map with three entry points it would be an even distribution but more players would stack as evenly as possible on the entry points or less players would leave entry points empty.  It would be based on a random order who gets put on which entry point so there is no way someone could design a map that penalized everyone but them..

Just a thought.

Bascially I like the idea but we've been thinking about this some while ago already.

The problem is the many exceptions. You mentioned the random distribution on the marks.
Imagine a map with 2 starting points and 3 players. 2 Would always show up on a stack and 1 player would start alone, being able to shoot the others immediately.
That would not be fair.

And this is just one of the many difficulties in concept.

That's why we haven't continued with that approach yet and prefered to let Chris spend his valuable time on more important subjects ;)

Hi enigma here


 First item of buisness maybe you could just disable wepons for the first 6 inputs on this type of game?
That way if you the spread is uneven it makes it fairer.

 maybe if t you use this sytem for a new battle mode there could be races like the following.

imagine a 2 player race on a long roadish map in order to win the oppenents must go in oppisite directions and touch  a special win chip to win ( would look like a checkered flag with he players color robot on it.)

I think modes like this with four players would be cool.

The need for such exceptions shows that the mode would not fit to the basic rules of rs. And there would be many more problems that have not been talked about yet.

And to be honest, Imho this would not really bring more fun to the game, compared to the needed efforts.

So let's focus on the current order of planned enhancements. I am sure you will like them too ;)
